Three Autumn walks through the vineyards

The last days of Autumn, when the fading sunlight turns the leaves to red and gold. The Winter cold has not yet arrived, and we can make the most of the last few days of the season to enjoy a walk in the mountains. Choose the right clothes: boots, woollen jumper, jacket and hat, and off you go!

Choose one of these itineraries, and discover hidden corners immersed in the nature, where you can also discover three of Trentino’s superb wines.

Valle di Cembra, the realm of Müller Thurgau
This unique spot is known as a “garden of vines”. To admire its beauty, start on foot from Lago Santo (where you can leave your car) and choose between two itineraries. The first winds along the botanical and nature trail of Dossone di Cembra, which then curves toward Ponciach (where you will discover an artistic path with outdoor architecture), the Bornie, the Masi in Grumes and Grauno, and ends at Prà del Manz in Val di Fiemme. The second itinerary takes the E5 European Trail, which will lead you to the Potzmauer glade and the mountain refuge named with the same name, passing through Passo Zise. The return trip will take around seven hours’ walking.

Monte di Mezzocorona is easily accessible using the cable-car, and once at the top you can choose the hike that suits you best: for example, you might take path SAT 506 towards Bait dei Manzi, and on the way back you can visit Bait dei Aiseli. Don’t forget to stop and admire the view from your spot, towards the Piana Rotaliana vineyards and the villages of Mezzolombardo, Mezzocorona and San Michele all’Adige, where the grapes used to produce Teroldego Rotaliano Doc are grown.

Lago di Toblino – water and Vin Santo
Valle dei Laghi links Trento to the Garda, and one of the most picturesque sights is without doubt Lake Toblino and its castle. Perhaps the most relaxing walk runs along the banks of this delightful lake between rushes and oaks which are reflected in the surface of the water. Don’t miss the village of Santa Massenza, where you can visit the hydroelectric power plant. This area is famous for its Nosiola grapes, which are used to produce the Vin Santo, typical of Trentino.
